The location of Marpa House

Marpa House is in the village of Ashdon, near Saffron Walden in north-west Essex. It is quite close to Cambridge and the M11.
There are good road, rail and bus links to London and Cambridge. The local station is called ‘Audley End’, which is just outside Saffron Walden on the
 London Liverpool St. to Cambridge line - you can phone for a taxi at the station .

Marpa House is close to London Stansted airport and also the A14 road link to the Harwich ferry linking England with The Netherlands. There is also a rail terminal at Harwich which will get you to Cambridge and then to Audley End train station.
To get to Marpa House from London Stansted, ask at enquiries. One route would be to catch a
train north to Audley End and then take a taxi from there. Buses go from Audley End occasionally.

How do you get to Marpa House by train?

The main line between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street runs close by- the local train station is called Audley End. Take a taxi from the station (there are phone numbers available at the station and there are often taxis waiting outside). Buses to Ashdon do run (request the stop at ‘The Rose & Crown’), although they are infrequent. Nevertheless if you can catch the bus, the walk from the bus stop to the house is a convenient 5 minutes up the hill (Rectory Lane). 

 

How do you get to Marpa House by coach?

You can get to Cambridge by coach from most parts of the country. Some operators also run coaches to Saffron Walden our nearest town.

 

How do you get to Marpa House by car?

The M11 / A11 main roads are very close, as is the A14. Coming from the south on the M11, join the A11at Junction 9 and head for Saffron Walden. In Saffron Walden look for the Ashdon Road, running above the common.
Coming from the North on the M11 take the east exit on the A505 at Junction 10 (Duxford).
From the A14 coming from the north west, join the M11 just west of Cambridge then turn off east on the A505 at Duxford. From the A14 coming from the east, join the A11 going south at Newmarket then turn off east on the A1307.

 

How do you get to Marpa House from continental Europe?

Come to Marpa House either by ferry to Harwich/Folkestone, or by air to London Stansted (the closest international airport), London Heathrow, London Gatwick, or Luton. London Stansted is only 30 minutes drive from Marpa House.
